Dr. Wheeler a highly respected cosmetic plastic surgeon at La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre, which he joined after many years in his own private practice in La Mesa. His excellent reputation for natural results drew many of his patients from La Jolla and the coast. He is deeply respected by his peers and was recognized in 2005 by San Diego Magazine as the Best Plastic Surgeon in San Diego.

In addition to providing excellent care to his patients, Dr. Wheeler has also been teaching young plastic surgeons at University of California San Diego for more than 30 years

For over 34 years, Dr. Wheeler has served the poor by providing free plastic surgery services such as cleft-lip and palate repair, burn scar reconstruction, and repair of facial trauma. Dr. Wheeler was President of the Interface Board from 2012 to 2016.

For the last 9 years, he has volunteered for Fresh Start Surgical Gifts at Children’s Hospital. Five times a year he devotes weekends to performing surgeries on disadvantaged infants, children, and teens suffering from physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents, abuse, or disease.
